...for an excellent discussion. We appreciate your time and effort in answering our many questions.
Folks, Andrew Brust is a member of our meetup - and so because he will be able to participate in the electronic discussion, please feel free to send followup discussion items through our maillist. Not to put Andrew on the spot... :) I'll be posting his slides in pdf format within the next few days.
Secondly, we've touched on the concept of BI in the Cloud. We are actively preparing for our April event with Prashanth Rai to focus on this very topic. Event details will be posted to
http://www.meetup.com/nybusinessintelligence/calendar/9996486/ as they come into focus.
Finally, a note about payments and RSVPs. I have issued full refunds to everyone who changed their RSVPs to a No minutes before the event or simply did not show up. Note that this is against our policy -- not because I'm a meanie but because the $5 charge is there to help you commit to the event. Yes, it also barely pays for the food and drinks. Mainly, however, it is in place because you should
not attend the event unless you are 100% interested in the topic -- so interested, in fact, that you are willing to part with a little bit of personal time and a little bit of cash.
Believe me I understand that emergencies come up, but I must protect the integrity of the RSVP process and protect our presenters who, on my honor and on the quality of our community, expect twice as many people as actually show up. Pardon the rant, here is action --
Moving forward, I would like to effect the following:- No shows will not receive refunds
- Last minute cancellations will receive a credit that can be redeemed at a future event. Since there is no workflow to support redemption on the site, you can simply email me and I will RSVP you into the event of your choice.
- RSVP systems will close at noon on the day of the event
- Events will be $5 via our amazon system and $10 at the door (if we decide to order sushi or the event is very popular, prices may increase proportionally to accomodate the festivities and encourage attendance from the most interested members).
- All transactions will continue to be tracked on the meetup site:
http://www.meetup.com/nybusinessintelligence/money/Please send me your objections or amendments to the above. No responses/feedback will be treated as agreement and I will post the above onto our website this Friday at noon and put into practice for our future events.
